1. How do you make your filigree jewelry?
I assemble them out of brass findings/stampings.

2. Do you cast your own parts?
No. Since I get loads of questions on this, I've compiled a short supplies list below. If you have any other questions feel free to send me a note and I'll do my best to answer :) None of the suppliers listed here are my sponsors or give me free stuff (as much as I wish they would ;)) They are just some places that I've bought from and can recommend.

Supplies List
Glue: E6000 (Available at craft/jewelry shops or Ebay)

Available on Ebay and Etsy-
Mostly I buy here, just search "brass stampings" for best results. There is a huge supply section on Etsy, where sellers have raw brass, oxidised brass, silver plated and different coloured items to suit your fancy.

I love the filigree I got from all these shops on Etsy so I can recommend them, they are very good:

mermaidsdowry (Very nice seller, will give you free tips on oxidising methods which work great)

Swarovski Crystals:

I buy locally most of the time, or stock up when I go to Hong Kong as Swarovskis are cheaper there. If I can't get it locally I try Ebay/Etsy, and one site that I've ordered from with a very good range is:

Dreamtimecreations (

3. Can you teach me how to make _____ please??
I'm sorry, but my designs are my own and because I took time to learn these on my own, I will not be posting tutorials for most of them. The tutorials that I have made are available here:…

4. Where did you learn to make jewelry?
There are hundreds of very good tutorials on jewelry making out there on the internet, and that's where I started. All my techniques are from my research online, or books I have.

Recommended Books:
The Workbench Guide to Jewelry Techniques (Anastasia Young)
Complete Metalsmith (Tim McCreight)

I started out experimenting in wire and moving on to filigree jewelry, and earned enough money from selling on Etsy to start investing in better equipment and classes. As of 2013 I completed a Diploma in Precious Metal Arts at JDMIS (Metal Clay, Metalsmithing, Gemology, and History of Jewelry) - those in Singapore can feel free to ask me questions on their classes :)

5. I want to make jewelry. Do you have any tips?
All I can say is, keep learning and never give up. Read more, research more, find out as much as you can. If you have access to classes, go for it! Be creative, be unique, and don't be afraid to try new things :D

6. What's Sodacrush and ValkyrieCouture?
Sodacrush is my first shop on Etsy, where I sell mostly wire-wrapped jewelry as well as charm bracelets, steampunk keys, and pretty much all the random jewelry I make. is currently closed! I may or may not revamp and reopen it one day with a new line of metalsmithing/wire wrapped jewelry, depending on how much I can get done on top of school.
ValkyrieCouture is my second line, featuring fantasy inspired filigree pieces in aged brass and sterling-silver plated brass.

7. Can you make me something?
Commissions are currently closed. I will take requests of different coloured metal/stones of past/present designs in my Etsy Shop. Please Convo me on Etsy instead of sending me a Note as I’m not very active on DA nowadays.

My name is Jasmyn. I love books, crafting, and motorcycles. I have a BA(Hons) in English Literature, a Diploma in Precious Metal Arts, and a sweet Honda CBR150. I own 3 adopted stray cats and ~100 cacti/succulents. I'm from Singapore, where I love hot days for ice-cold showers and monsoon days for everything else. You can read more about me and my work on my blog.

Comments/Notes:I will read and reply all comments/notes, although it might take me some time to get through all of them. Even if it's just a short "thank you", please don't take it as me being distantly polite and not bothering to type a personal reply to everyone. Truthfully, I know it's personal choice for anyone to leave a comment and I really appreciate every single one because I wouldn't be anything without the support of the lovely people I've met on DA. If you want a reply urgently, send a note please!

Favs/Watches/Llamas: Again, thank you all very much for every single +fav and +watch (and llama)! I return all llamas (though it might take me a while to get around to it). I'm afraid I really can't keep up with checking out every one to say thanks personally, but I'll say thank you here, from the bottom of my heart ♥

Groups: If you send a request to feature my art in your group, I'll usually say yes. If it's for me to join/watch your group, I'll probably check it out first to see if it fits with the things I make or enjoy seeing. Please don't get offended if I don't want to join (and likewise for personal/group watch requests), I reserve right to view the art I enjoy, and I don't believe in "watch for watch" or other silly fame-getting tactics like that. So if I do watch you, it means I honestly love your art :)

Tags/Gift Art: If you tag me to do something, I'll probably answer your questions but I won't pass it on, because I don't want to bother people with things like that ^^; And drawing art based on my jewelry is fine, no need to ask for permission. Do send me the links though so I can +fav it! :D
